Czech Canada

Czech Canada is an area located approximately between the towns Kunžak, Dačice, Slavonice, Nová Bystřice and Jindřichův Hradec. Its area is not larger than 300 km2.  Within this area, a territory delimited by the Regulation of the Region of South Bohemia is defined, and it is assigned the highest degree of protection, and that is the Natural Park Czech Canada with the area of 18,700 ha containing several natural reservations.
It is said that the topographic name is derived from natural character of the landscape, which is characterized by numerous aquatic areas, extensive forest complexes with rocks and kind of chilly climate impact, lower average temperatures and abundant rainfall and, therefore, was given on the basis of similarities of local landscape with the landscape in Canada.

Geographic Location

To locate the region of Czech Canada can be fairly simple: On the map find the intersection of 49th parallel and 15th meridian.  In the upper right square, and on the parallel, place a rectangle of the side length of 25 km, whose meridian side has 15 km. To the defined area assign a territory in the southern direction from the parallel towards the border with Austria, and thus we get approximate definition of Czech Canada.
As a natural territory of the region of Czech Canada we consider the line of municipalities Nový Vojířov - Sedlo - Nová Ves - Malíkov nad Nežárkou - Horní Pěna - Hrutkov - Kačlehy - Kunžak - Heřmaneč - Lipnice - Markvarec - Český Rudolec - Dolní Bolíkov - Vlastkovec - Maříž, which is closed by the state border on the southern side.

Landscape

Landscape of Czech Canada - south-eastern corner of Bohemia, for centuries it has been almost intact part of the country with prevalence of vast forests and numbers of open planes and meadows with its rows of oaks above levels of ponds, with vast forests and rocky sceneries around Nová Bystřice, Landštejn up to Moravské Slavonice or closer to inland parts of Bohemia in the direction towards Jindřichův Hradec.
